Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Research Methods (GCRM)  is a 6-month full-time postgraduate qualification designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills required for academic and professional research.

This course develops your understanding of research design, methodology, data analysis, and ethics — forming a solid foundation for further study such as the Master of Research or for research-driven professional roles in business, IT, education, or social sciences.

Course Structure

Students complete four units (40 credit points), including:

  1. Quantitative Research Methods

  2. Qualitative Research Methods

  3. Research Integrity and Ethics

  4. Contemporary Issues in a chosen discipline (e.g., Business, Accounting, or Information Technology)

Admission Requirements

Academic:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (AQF Level 7 or equivalent) with a minimum credit average.

English Language:

  • IELTS 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), or

  • PTE Academic 56 (no communicative skill below 46), or equivalent.

Additional Requirement:

  • A short research proposal (approx. 2 pages) outlining your area of interest and motivation for study.

Learning Approach

The program combines lectures, workshops, online learning, and independent research.

Each unit includes approximately 3 contact hours per week, supported by digital learning materials and seminar discussions.

Assessments include research proposals, data analysis reports, reflective essays, and oral presentations.
