The Diploma of Information Technology (Dip IT) offered by the Crown Institute of Higher Education (CIHE) is a 1-year full-time (or part-time equivalent) qualification designed to provide students with essential IT knowledge and hands-on technical skills.

This program covers programming, networking, databases, and systems management, preparing students for entry-level IT roles or further study in the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) with full credit transfer.

Course Structure

Students complete 8 units (80 credit points) across two semesters.

  • BUS101: Business Communication

  • ITC101: Introduction to Information Technology

  • ITC102: Programming Fundamentals

  • ITC103: Systems Analysis and Design

Semester 2 Units:

  • ITC104: Database Systems

  • ITC105: Networking Essentials

  • ITC106: Information Systems Management

  • BUS107: Business Ethics

Admission Requirements

Academic:

  • Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent) or recognized secondary qualification.

  • Equivalent full-time tertiary study may also be accepted.

English Language:

  • IELTS 6.0 overall (no band below 5.5), or

  • PTE Academic 50 (no communicative skill below 42), or equivalent.

Learning Approach

The program combines lectures, lab-based workshops, and project-based learning.

Students engage in practical activities including software coding, database design, and IT system configuration.

Assessments include hands-on assignments, technical reports, and group projects, developing both technical proficiency and communication skills.
